Our
Story
WHAT IS THE OWEN SOUND FALL FAIR
A Legacy of Agriculture, Community & Tradition
For 173 years, the Owen Sound Fall Fair has been a cornerstone event in Grey County, celebrating agriculture, rural heritage, and community spirit. Established in 1852, our fair is one of the oldest in the region, connecting generations through livestock shows, thrilling competitions, homecraft exhibits, and family-friendly entertainment.
From its early days as a modest agricultural gathering to the dynamic multi-day event it is today, the fair has remained true to its mission: supporting local farmers, showcasing rural traditions, and bringing the community together for an unforgettable experience.
Our Agricultural Roots
The Owen Sound Fall Fair began as a way for farmers and producers to exhibit their best livestock, crops, and handmade goods. Over the years, it has expanded to include:
🚜 Tractor & Truck Pulls – Featuring local talent and raw horsepower.
🐄 Livestock Shows – Showcasing top breeders and 4-H participants.
🎨 Homecraft Competitions – Honouring traditional skills like quilting, baking, and canning.
💥 Demolition Derby – A crowd-favourite event filled with high-energy action.
A Fair That Grows with the Community
While agriculture remains at our core, the fair has evolved to reflect the changing landscape of Owen Sound and Grey County. Each year, we introduce new events, vendors, and experiences, while keeping our beloved traditions alive.
Our fair is run by dedicated volunteers, local businesses, and community partners, all working tirelessly to create an event that celebrates the past while embracing the future.
